Here we are with another installment of Hood Highlights. This week we are talking about Varrio Market Street. The street Market is a fairly main street which spans from downtown San Diego to the Emerald Hills/ Encanto Neighborhoods in Southeast San Diego.
Varrio Market Territory:
(S) Market Street
Varrio Market shares their hood with a Black Gang, Rollin 40’s Neighborhood Crips. VMKT used to be extreamly deep, causing all sorts of ruckus in their hood. SDPD started cracking down on them and a lot of their heads caught lengthy sentences.
Ive only personally met a female from Market in my times, PEARL, She was with the business though. I remember a tagging crew from the same area in the 90s CHB(Cant Hold Back) They were Power Scribed EVERYWHERE in juvy.
VMKT has always held their own against larger gangs. They’ve had beef with larger gangs like LHTS, Sherman, and Shelltown for decades.

So as i state every week on the Hood Highlights, i work a part time delivery job 2 days a week, this job sends me to various parts of town on call. While I’m killing time, i often cruise around and take pics for this blog.
I Decided to start at the Park.
There was a lil hill and at the top was this old tree that was heavily tagged up. from street view its slightly difficult to see the pinnacle if the hilltop. Cool spot to hang out.
After the park i took a lil drive looking for more hit ups!! Varrio Market had markings in every section of their hood.
VMKT also funks with OKB(oriental Killer Boyz) a Asian Gang that also Shares turf with Neighborhood Crip, Just on the other side of 47th.
I wasn’t able to find any known artists that stemmed from the Varrio Market Neighborhood but i did find some hood raps By Lil Munchy(R.I.P.) Wito and B Bob 2.
and that my friends is this weeks segment of Neighborhood Highlights featuring Varrio Market Street.
